Ⅰ.Mission
As the economies in Asia-Pacific grow rapidly, the
relationship among countries in the region becomes closer than before. Asia-Pacific
Economic Cooperation (APEC) is a forum aiming on promoting economic growth,
cooperation, international trade, and investment within Asia-Pacific region.
Meanwhile, several economic integrations have been formed, such as AEAN, RCEP,
and CPTPP.
To strengthen the relationship with ASEAN and
South Asia, Taiwan government has initiated “Now South Bound Policy” in 2000.
Within the project, “New Southbound Talent Development Program” aims to foster
bilateral exchange and mutual resources sharing. It provides subsidies to Taiwanese
university teachers and students to have a deeper understanding of Southeast
Asian languages, cultures and industries. It also provides a wide range of
customized training programs or courses to meet the needs for education and
professional training for ASEAN and South Asian students to learn professional,
practical and Mandarin language skills. Under this policy, the number of
students both going to South Bound countries and coming to Taiwan has increased dramatically.
Therefore, the aim of this center is to promote
understanding and exchange activities for students towards Asia Pacific region.
It includes three main parts: learning, practical training, and employment.
