Southern
Taiwan University of Science and Technology participated in the 20th National
Inter-College Information Technology Services Innovation Competition, which was
jointly organized by the Department of Information and Technology and Education
of Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and the Institute
of Information Management. The finalists came from 92 colleges and universities
across 20 counties, with a total of 2,200 people from 340 teams competing
against each. Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has
brilliant performance, winning the second place in the R & D Group with its
"iTape logistics real-time monitoring and management system" as well
as NT$150,000 as prize money and NT$ 300,000 as venture capital fund. Southern
Taiwan University of Science and Technology, which has had as many as 162
student teams from the ninth to the nineteenth competition, was awarded the
"Outstanding Contribution Award for Colleges." Prof. Jay-Ren Ding of
Informational Management Department, who has led as many student teams as 78,
was awarded "Outstanding Contribution Award for Teachers."
